The Kingaroy based position will be full time for 12 months commencing Monday 1st February, 2027 and will include the completion of a Cert II in Horticulture.

The Duties:

Reporting to the Team Leader, Cemeteries, the Trainee will perform a diverse range of duties which will include:

- Gain on-the-job Horticulture experience by assisting with the day-to-day tasks and activities within the Council's Cemeteries and Parks & Gardens operations.
- Undertake all training requirements and complete a Cert II in Horticulture.
- Operate small ride-on equipment and motorised hand equipment.
- Complete general horticulture and labouring duties including, landscape maintenance, mowing, whipper snipping, hedging, garden weeding and weed spraying.
- Perform pre-burial presentation tasks such as grave shoring, installing lowering devices, removal of excess soil from the site, chair and marquee set up.
- Provide a high level of client service to both internal and external clients.
- Refer matters that impact Council to appropriate Supervisors or Managers.
- Maintain a record of training achieved.
- Maintain a safe, clean and tidy workplace.




- Complete other reasonable activities and directions as needed.

The Requirements:

- A commitment to learn new skills and complete formal qualifications in Horticulture.
- The ability to work outdoors in a physical role and complete manual tasks.
- Sound comprehension and numeracy skills.
- Sound communication skills.
- The proven ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision as required.
- Proven team player qualities.
- General Safety Induction for Construction Worker Certificate (White card) or the ability to acquire.
- A minimum current "C" class driver licence.
- A commitment to safety in the workplace.
