AI Business Analyst

A major Queensland council is embarking on a new AI program aligned to its 2050 vision, exploring how AI can improve the way people work, streamline processes and deliver greater operational efficiency.

We're looking for an AI Business Analyst with around 3–5 years' experience to help identify and assess where AI can genuinely add value. This is a great opportunity for a Business Analyst who enjoys understanding how organisations work, challenging existing processes and exploring how emerging technology can solve real business problems.

What you'll be doing

You'll work directly with business stakeholders who have ideas for how AI could be used, helping turn those ideas into clearly defined opportunities.

- Meet with stakeholders to understand their challenges, ideas and current processes.
- Assess whether an opportunity is suitable for AI or whether another solution may be more appropriate.
- Analyse and map existing processes, identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop business cases and recommendations based on value,



feasibility, risk and effort.
- Define requirements and use cases for AI-enabled solutions.
- Work closely with technical teams to translate business needs into practical solutions.

Role Requirements

- Experience in Business Process Management and process re-engineering.
- Proven experience developing BPMN process models.
- Strong As-Is / To-Be process mapping and analysis capability.
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
- Solid stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
- Experience assessing business improvement opportunities and developing recommendations.
- Commercial thinking — able to consider value, cost, effort, risk and feasibility.
- Experience with Generative AI, automation, digital transformation, data or AI-enabled solutions would be highly regarded.
