Queensland Government Insurance Fund (QGIF) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to head its underwriting function. This is an opportunity to influence whole-of-government insurance and risk management outcomes while leading a high-performing team responsible for premium setting, reinsurance arrangements, underwriting analysis and strategic insurance advice. Working closely with senior stakeholders across government, you will help ensure Queensland Government agencies are supported by sustainable and effective insurance strategies.

In this role, you will:
• Lead and develop QGIF's underwriting function, ensuring effective delivery of underwriting, insurance and risk management services.
• Provide strategic advice on annual premium setting through analysis of assets, liabilities, risk exposures and actuarial information.
• Deliver authoritative advice to senior leaders, government agencies and key stakeholders on insurance, risk and liability management matters.
• Design and recommend whole-of-government reinsurance programs to manage catastrophe risk exposure.
• Drive improvements in systems, policies, controls and service delivery to enhance operational effectiveness.
• Lead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen QGIF's insurance services and underwriting capability.
• Provide governance and management reporting on underwriting risk, premium setting and organisational performance.
• Monitor industry, policy and legislative developments to identify emerging risks and opportunities impacting government insurance arrangements.

What experience you will bring:
• Demonstrated experience leading specialist teams and delivering strategic business outcomes.




• Strong expertise in insurance, underwriting, risk management or a related discipline.
• Experience analysing complex risk, financial or actuarial information to inform business decisions.
• Proven ability to provide high-level advice to senior executives and diverse stakeholders.
• Solid leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build productive relationships.
• Experience driving continuous improvement and implementing innovative business solutions.
• Ability to operate in a complex stakeholder environment and balance competing priorities.
• Commitment to sound governance, accountability and inclusive leadership practices
