About the opportunity

We are seeking a Delivery & Release Manager to support delivery of the National Health Services Directory (NHSD) roadmap.

Reporting to the Head of Product & Delivery, NHSD, you will translate prioritised initiatives into coordinated delivery plans, manage releases and support Agile ways of working across Product, Engineering, Data and Service Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate prioritised roadmap initiatives into clear delivery plans, schedules, milestones and dependencies across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Work with Product, Engineering, Data, Service Operations and business stakeholders to define scope and coordinate delivery.
- Track progress, capacity, risks, issues and dependencies, driving timely resolution or escalation.
- Prepare clear sprint- and release-level status reporting for governance forums and internal stakeholders.
- Facilitate cross-team communication, surface competing priorities and represent the team in relevant planning and reporting forums.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate NHSD software releases across multiple teams and initiatives.
- Align release schedules and dependencies with Healthdirect Release Managers and Product and Delivery Managers.
- Identify and mitigate release risks to minimise service disruption during deployments.
- Support the development and consistent use of release documentation, checklists and standard operating procedures.
- Continuously improve release practices in line with Healthdirect’s change and release management policies.
- Give stakeholders and technical teams early,



accurate visibility of upcoming deployments and changes.
- Champion practical Agile ways of working and support teams to continuously improve.
- Facilitate sprint or iteration planning, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
- Maintain a unified workplan or board that provides visibility of cross-team activity for each NHSD initiative.
- Remove or escalate process, tooling, scheduling and dependency-related impediments.
- Coordinate planning sessions and monitor team velocity against committed outcomes.

About You

You are an organised and collaborative delivery professional who brings structure to complex software environments. You communicate clearly, anticipate risks and dependencies, and keep multiple teams aligned while maintaining momentum and a strong focus on reliable outcomes.

What you’ll bring to the role

- Three to five years’ experience in delivery and/or release management within a software delivery environment, including Agile delivery responsibilities across one or more teams.
- A strong track record of planning and managing software releases and deployments in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Sound knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, with experience connecting delivery and release disciplines with software development teams.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating Agile ceremonies, maintaining team momentum, removing impediments and supporting continuous improvement.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills,



with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing deadlines.
- Experience managing delivery risks, issues and dependencies, including reporting to senior leaders and governance forums.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience with project and issue management tools such as Atlassian Jira, along with Microsoft Office or equivalent tools.
- Experience with resource and capacity planning across concurrent workstreams.
- Experience working within a formal change management or Change Advisory Board process.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years’ relevant experience in health, technology or a related industry.
