About The Role

Our client, a well-established organisation, is adding a permanent Assistant Accountant to its Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll own the full payments cycle, keep the bank reconciliations tight, and help make the team's processes faster and cleaner.

Responsibilities

- Manage the Accounts Payable inbox
- Process invoices and keep AP records accurate in the ERP system
- Prepare and load fortnightly and month-end payment runs, including international payments
- Provide the leadership team with payment summaries and open invoice reports ahead of each run
- Run mid-month and month-end partner payment runs, and reconcile approvals against NetSuite and payment platforms
- Set up and maintain vendor records, including checking GST registration and bank details
- Post journals, and review sub-ledgers for negative balances or returned payments
- Keep bank reconciliations current across designated entity accounts, and investigate unmatched items quickly




- Give weekly updates on outstanding reconciliation items
- Help document processes and suggest improvements that cut down payment errors

Skills & Experience

- Previous experience in an Accounts Payable, Assistant Accountant or Finance Administration role
- Solid bank reconciliation and payment processing experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Good understanding of financial controls and approval processes
- Careful attention to detail, and you meet deadlines without being chased
- You take ownership, take feedback well and fix the root cause of a problem
