SkillQuest Solutions is seeking an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic on behalf of our client, a family-owned and operated business with more than 40 years of combined knowledge and experience in the refrigerated transport industry, located in Regency Park, South Australia.

With a strong commitment to quality and reliable service, the business operates a busy fleet of heavy vehicles, specialising in the transportation of both dry and refrigerated freight, including a wide range of perishable goods. They are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Motor Mechanic to undertake servicing, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance, ensuring the fleet remains safe, compliant, reliable and ready for operation.

Position - Diesel Motor Mechanic

Location - Regency Park, South Australia 5010

Salary - $78,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent

THE ROLE:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to take responsibility for the inspection, servicing, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles and associated equipment. You will play an important role in maintaining fleet safety and reliability while minimising vehicle downtime and supporting efficient transport operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· Inspect, diagnose, service and repair diesel engines, heavy vehicles and associated mechanical equipment.

· Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.

· Dismantle and remove engine assemblies,



transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components to identify faults and required repairs.

· Repair or replace worn and defective engine and mechanical components, including transmission, steering, suspension and braking systems.

· Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications.

· Reassemble, test and adjust engines and mechanical components following servicing and repairs to ensure correct performance.

· Inspect vehicles and identify maintenance and repair requirements to maintain safety, reliability and operational readiness.

· Maintain workshop tools and equipment in a safe, clean and serviceable condition and promptly report any defects.

· Complete accurate service, repair and maintenance records and communicate vehicle requirements with workshop and operational teams.

· Maintain a clean, organised and protected workshop and comply with WHS requirements, company procedures and relevant safety standards.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· Relevant qualification such as a Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology (or higher) or agreed equivalent.

· Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic working on heavy diesel trucks and commercial vehicles.





· Demonstrated experience servicing, diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy vehicles.

· Sound knowledge of diesel engines and associated mechanical systems, including transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension.

· Experience undertaking scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.

· Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently.

· Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship.

· Sound understanding of workshop safety practices and the safe use of tools and diagnostic equipment.

· Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with workshop and transport operations personnel.

· A reliable, accountable and professional approach to work.

· Valid Australian driver’s licence is ESSENTIAL (Heavy Vehicle licence is desirable).

· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full-time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
