What is this role all about?

We are seeking an experience and people focused payroll manager to lead the delivery, governance and continuous improvement of Hertz payroll function. This is a ‘hands on’ leadership role for a payroll professional and specialist who can lead end-to-end payroll operations working in an Award based industry with multiple locations in a mid-large-size organisation. Reporting to the Senior Director, HR you will be the organisation’s payroll subject matter expert owning the end-to-end payroll operations, Award interpretations, statutory compliance and payroll systems administration, while leading and developing a small payroll team.

Core responsibilities include:

- Lead end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely processing

- Own payroll governance, compliance, taxation, superannuation and audit readiness.

- Interpret and administer the Awards,



translating industrial requirements into payroll processes and controls

- Manage audit program

- Lead payroll systems upgrades, configuration, reporting and data analytics

- Partner with departments on system and digital transformation projects

- Provide expert payroll advice to managers and employees, resolving complex payroll matters

- Lead, coach and develop the payroll team

- Manage project work as required for system enhancement.

What do we need from you?

This position will suit a candidate that enjoys a fast paced, diverse business and possesses the following skills and experience:

- Relevant education (e.g. diploma or above in Human Resources or Finance, Cert IV in Payroll) are advantageous.

- Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

- Demonstrated experience managing end to end payroll, including governance, compliance, taxation, superannuation and audit. (NZ payroll knowledge advantageous)

- Strong payroll systems, reporting and data analytics experience, experience using Dayforce highly regarded.

- Proven experience & solid knowledge interpreting relevant legislation and National Awards

- Strong stakeholder management, problem solving and team leadership skills

- Prior Human Resources experience is advantageous.
