About Us
We are the home of harness racing in Victoria.
We are a seven day a week entertainment venue with a range of racing and non-racing offerings including 260-seat Bistro, extensive Conference and Events spaces, a 40-room 4-Star Mantra Hotel, Sports Bar, Gaming lounge and a state-of-the-art Harness Racing track. The venue operates 7 days a week.

The Functions and Events Manager - Operations will be required to execute and deliver functions and events that exceed the expectations of clients and guests. They will be required to engage closely with clients and to display a high level of customer service to all patrons and guests at Melton Entertainment Park.
Operations Performance
- Work cooperatively with team members, assist others, contribute to team performance and demonstrate support for MEP commitment to a harassment free workplace.
- Communicate with both internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of function delivery ensuring all client demands are met where possible. This includes:
- Function set up, preparation of run sheets or action checklists, preparation of floor plans and seating arrangements, sourcing appropriate materials for functions
- Supervision of function activities including staffing numbers and training of staff if required, preparation of staff roster information
- Conduct site inspections with prospective customers
- Manage quality control against established customer service standards
- Prepare post function de-brief reports
- Assist the Sales team to develop, promote and sell functions, events and ‘themed programs’ where possible.
- Participate in marketing, promotional and networking activities as required.
- Self-management including:
- Organising and managing work tasks according to schedule or set priorities
- Adhering to MEP values, policies and procedures such as Occupational Health & Safety, food and hygiene standards, maintaining a professional appearance etc
- Participating in performance reviews according to MEP policy
- Self-directed learning and development as well as undertaking any required training.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in work processes and procedures and adapt to change in workplace practices.
- Perform any other duty that may be reasonably regarded as relevant to the job as directed by management.
- Ability to cope with the rigours of shift work including nights and weekends as required.
- Assist with emergency response including fire, evacuation, illness, threat or security
- Cash handling of tills and bars – adhere and train relevant staff on MEP cash handling policy and procedure
Team Contribution
- Manage a large casual workforce including rostering and performance
- Deliver excellent customer service and performance standards applicable to the relevant work area.
- Sound working knowledge of products, services, activities and promotions offered by MEP.
- Confer and co-operate with other departments including Kitchen, Bistro and Duty Managers.
Customer Service

Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Proven experience working in functions operations
- Demonstrated work history in functions and event service
- Understanding of events/function operations
- Knowledge of Bepoz, Ivvy or similar Functions and Seven Rooms or similar Restaurant booking systems.
- Competent computer literacy skills

Availability
Must be available to work a rotating roster including days, nights, weekends and all major events.
