About the Role

This is a full-time role living on site in a provided residence for you and your family, offering a competitive remuneration package including accommodation and meals.

Reporting to the Board of the College, and working in conjunction with a strong staff team, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the College with key responsibilities including:

- Providing strategic leadership including working with the Board to develop a clear vision for the College’s future

- Ensuring effective financial management, governance, risk management and compliance for the College

- Ensuring a safe, inclusive and respectful residential community for all students and staff

- Continuing to build on the strong positive culture focused on student care, wellbeing, personal development and achieving academic potential

- Managing student matters, including behavioural issues and critical incidents with fairness, discretion and sound judgement

- Developing, empowering, and supporting leaders – both amongst students and staff

- Building constructive and effective relationships with Macquarie University and other key stakeholders

- Developing strong engagement with alumni, donors and the wider community

- Representing the College with integrity within the wider community

About Dunmore Lang College

Opened in 1972 as the first affiliated Residential College at Macquarie University, Dunmore Lang College accommodates 250 students predominantly from rural and regional NSW, as well as from interstate and around the world. The College is a Not-for-Profit/ For-Purpose organisation whose mission is to create opportunities for university study in a residential academic community based on respect, personal responsibility, and service.

We believe that enabling access to university study not only changes students’ lives but also everyone around them. By stepping out and completing tertiary education, students become role models for other members of their schools, their wider communities and their families, as well as opening new pathways and opportunities.

The College is led by the Principal and a senior management team,



supported by a close-knit team of staff and student leaders. Students are supported by an integrated care team of staff and student leaders including the Principal, Deputy Principal/Dean, Assistant Dean, and Resident Advisers who all reside at the College as well as Community Supervisor, and Senior Duty staff.

A strong scholarship programme supports students who would not otherwise be able to attend university to successfully complete their degrees, and the College has developed a significant outreach to rural and regional, Indigenous, and first-in-family students.

Macquarie University and other stakeholders.

- Organisational capability. You have experience in managing people, governance and compliance, risk, budgets and setting priorities in a complex environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

You will ideally be able to demonstrate:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant leadership experience

- Involvement in strategic planning and a track record of delivering on strategic initiatives

- Substantial experience in a senior leadership role in education and/or student residential communities including working with young adults

- Demonstrated experience leading people and building and developing teams

- Clear understanding of and a commitment to student wellbeing, safety and creating an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone.

- Robust governance, financial and operational management capability

- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including comfort and confidence in front of a large student body

- A willingness and drive to develop external relationship at Macquarie University, with alumni and the wider community to help achieve the College’s objectives
