AWCON is one of Australia's fastest-growing civil construction contractors, delivering complex projects for Tier 1 clients across the mining and heavy industry sectors. Our projects range from $1M to $100M+, and our footprint now spans Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and beyond.

We're growing quickly, our pipeline is strong, and we're building out our Pre Contracts team with estimators who want to grow with us.

Why this role is different

You'll own the tender. Not a slice of it. You'll lead submissions from document review through pricing strategy to handover, and you'll see the direct impact your work has on the business.

You'll influence how projects are built. You'll work alongside Project Managers, engineers and site teams to shape methodology, sequencing, staging and programs. Your thinking on how to build it smarter becomes our competitive edge.

You'll work on projects worth talking about. Major mining and civil works for Tier 1 clients, across multiple states, with no two jobs the same.

You'll move up faster. We're growing, which means real opportunities to step into Senior Estimator and Pre Contracts management roles. Performance here is noticed and rewarded.

What you'll be doing

- Leading the preparation of competitive, commercially sound tenders, cost plans and estimates, on time and to a high standard

- Digging into drawings, specifications, schedules and BOQs to define the estimating scope

- Collaborating with project and site teams to develop methodologies, staging plans and programs that give us an edge

- Completing quantity take-offs and building accurate direct and indirect cost estimates

- Sourcing,



assessing and negotiating the best subcontractor and supplier pricing

- Contributing to risk assessments and tender reviews, ensuring compliance with company governance and client requirements

- Handing over awarded projects smoothly so our delivery teams hit the ground running

What you'll bring
- Experience as an Estimator or Junior Estimator in construction, civil, mining, infrastructure or industrial sectors

- A solid grasp of estimating principles, cost planning and tender preparation

- The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and contract documents under deadline pressure

- Strong commercial instincts and a practical, get-it-done attitude

- Confidence running clarification meetings with subcontractors, clients and senior leaders

- Strong Excel skills and experience with industry estimating software [name your platform if relevant, e.g. HCSS HeavyBid, CostX, Candy.

Bonus points if you:

- Hold a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar

- Love digging into productivity rates and market pricing to find smarter ways to win work
