THE ROLE
The Compliance Officer is responsible for the achievement of business objectives and for managing aspects of transport compliance within Recent South Wales, including:
Monitoring, managing and reporting on developments including changes in legislative and regulatory obligations
Engaging with and advising the business on effective management of its compliance obligations and performance improvement
Managing NHVR Performance-Based Standards (PBS) vehicle and combination approvals, accreditation requirements, and ongoing compliance obligations
Implementation and maintenance of compliance framework and procedures
Engagement with regulators
Support and encourage the organisation in identifying and self-reporting on compliance issues, including supporting the investigation into such incidents, remediation plans, and continuous improvement
Based at Lidcombe, with regular travel required across NSW operations and customer sites, this is a core part of the role

Monitoring, managing and reporting on developments including changes in legislative and regulatory obligations
Engaging with and advising the business on effective management of its compliance obligations and performance improvement
Managing NHVR Performance-Based Standards (PBS) vehicle and combination approvals, accreditation requirements, and ongoing compliance obligations
Implementation and maintenance of compliance framework and procedures
Engagement with regulators
Support and encourage the organisation in identifying and self-reporting on compliance issues, including supporting the investigation into such incidents, remediation plans, and continuous improvement
Based at Lidcombe, with regular travel required across NSW operations and customer sites, this is a core part of the role
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct all incident reporting and manage corrective actions
Manage NHVAS compliance for NSW operations
Manage NHVR PBS vehicle and combination compliance, including accreditation and contractor compliance
Monitor and manage Mass Management, Basic Fatigue Management (BFM), and Chain of Responsibility (CoR)




Conduct audits on logbooks, maintenance sheets, run sheets, etc.
Carry out safety audits and conduct toolbox talks with drivers
Manage and monitor maintenance sheets
Facilitate necessary training for fleet management and maintenance
Act as the day-to-day point of contact for operational teams on heavy vehicle compliance matters
Manage all accidents, incidents, and liaise with insurance and legal officers within NSW
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Genuine, hands-on experience in heavy vehicle compliance, NHVR, CoR, and ideally PBS, a general WHS background alone will not be considered sufficient for this role
Understanding of road legislation, NHVAS, and fatigue management regulations
Minimum 2 years' experience in a compliance, safety, or operational auditing role within transport or logistics
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
Organisational and problem-solving abilities
Excellent customer focus
High regard for safe working practices
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly across NSW
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of the Transport and Logistics industry
Compliance officer experience
HC or MC licence preferred
Understanding of road legislation, NHVAS, and fatigue management regulations
