The Chance
This is a unique opportunity to shape and embed WorkCover's WHS governance capability at an enterprise level.
Working within a senior leadership environment, you'll play a key role in developing and maturing safety governance frameworks, strengthening controls, accountabilities and officer due diligence across the organisation.
With a strong governance and compliance focus, you'll oversee how safety risks are identified, assessed and managed, providing oversight of control effectiveness, assurance activities and regulatory compliance.
Partnering closely with Legal, Risk and operational stakeholders, you'll navigate complex matters, support responses to regulator enquiries and complaints, and ensure WorkCover can confidently demonstrate compliance with legislative obligations.
You'll translate complex legislation, risk and assurance information into clear, evidence-based advice and reporting for senior leaders, Executive Leadership and Board‐level forums.
Working in a fast‐paced environment, you'll influence enterprise outcomes while building practical governance processes that strengthen accountability, transparency and continuous improvement.
About You
You're an experienced governance, risk, compliance or assurance professional who has built, managed or matured governance frameworks and control environments within complex organisations.




WHS experience is highly regarded but not essential.
More important is your ability to assess risk, evaluate controls, manage regulatory expectations and provide practical, evidence‐based advice that stands up to senior scrutiny.
You're confident navigating complex legislation and governance obligations and can translate technical concepts into clear, concise recommendations.
A trusted stakeholder partner, you influence effectively without formal authority and bring strong judgement, attention to detail and composure under pressure.
Experience partnering with Legal, Risk and senior leaders, alongside exposure to Board reporting, assurance, compliance frameworks or regulatory engagement, will position you for success.
