This 3 point promotional role is temporary for up to 3 years, however your teaching position will be full time and permanent.

About You
The Director of Learning and Teaching(Curriculum/Learning)is an integral part of the College Executive and plays a vital role in delivering the Catholic mission of the College along with leading the strategic and continuing improvement of educational outcomes of students in this school.




They have a major influence on developing the quality of holistic education including teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and school community members.
The Director of Learning and Teaching will support teachers and faculty leaders in the development, refinement and sharing of their teaching practice to improve learning outcomes for every student and is highly visible in classrooms working cooperatively with teachers and the College Executive.
Key elements of the role will include:
teaching and learning leadership
developing and driving the teaching professional learning agenda for excellence in the classroom
facilitating the ongoing development of quality contemporary teaching, learning and assessment processes, including the effective use of school data from external assessments and diagnostic testing
developing and leading the implementation of a school wide Learning Management System
managing academic awards program to celebrate student success
managing student reports (via Compass - Student Management System)
supporting Newman Selective Gifted Education Program leadership, Diverse Learning and associated testing programs (e.g. PAT, CAT4, etc)
managing and monitoring all HSC results and results of other external examinations and strategise improvement agenda for planning and teaching for excellence.
The Director of Learning and Teaching reports to the Principal and is a member of the College Executive.
promotes and models the vision and mission of the Catholic school and the community it serves
models continual improvement and strengthens a culture of high expectations centred on the needs of all students
collaborates with stakeholders to enhance professional knowledge, practice and engagement through a range of strategies to improve student outcomes
applies strategic thinking to develop a culture of improvement, innovation and change
ensures the delivery of the curriculum, assessment and reporting is compliant with NESA policies and procedures
demonstrates expertise and abilities in the field of teaching and learning, whole school curriculum planning and development
recognised as an outstanding classroom teacher who can successfully model innovative learning, teaching and assessment practices
a strong focus on attention to detail




proven record of excellence in a range of roles within a secondary educational setting including leading a department
demonstrated ability to lead contemporary and effective professional learning for staff using a range of data to monitor and assess student learning growth.
Foster a culture of growth and feedback amongst staff
ability to lead the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the College's Literacy and Numeracy Plan
proven ability to successfully perform a leadership role with responsibility for the development of the curriculum, teaching practice and the professional development of teaching staff
lead school improvement with an emphasis on enhancing student learning outcomes and a focus on continuous improvement
capacity for strategic planning and well developed analytical and conceptual skills
promote the professionalism of staff that enhances the life of the College and contributes to a sense of community
demonstrate outstanding organisation and administration skills
develop positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the wider community
work independently, as well as in a team environment.
College Executive
As a member of the College Executive, the Director of Learning and Teaching will:
possess highly developed leadership and teamwork, communication and strategic planning skills
contribute openly and positively to the College Executive
be responsible for the implementation of the College Strategic Plan and Annual Improvement Plan, especially in relation to student academic achievement
act in a supportive and/or supervisory capacity for activities within the College as directed by the Principal/Assistant Principal
be enthusiastically and actively involved in the co-curricular program of the school such as attending College camps/retreats, College CAPA productions, debating/public speaking and other activities nominated by the Principal.
You will have attained:
a tertiary qualification in Education
eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
if a teacher of Religious Education, qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as perAccreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead.
