Job Description

This position is responsible for planning and coordinating crop production from soil preparation through to harvest and market delivery. It covers growing operations, farm infrastructure, staff/contractor supervision, production records, climate risk and work health and safety processes.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate production and marketing of crops, including fruit and nuts, vegetables, turf and flowers, from soil preparation to harvest while taking environmental and market factors into account.
Select and plant seeds, seedlings and bulbs, and graft recent varieties to root stocks.
Maintain crop production by cultivating, de-budding and pruning, and by maintaining optimal growing conditions.
Organise and conduct farming operations including collecting, storing, grading and packaging produce, and organising sale, purchase and dispatch of produce.
Direct and oversee general farming activities such as fertilising and pest and weed control.
Maintain farm buildings, fences, equipment and water supply systems.




Maintain and evaluate records of farming activities, monitor market activity, and plan crop preparation and production to meet contract requirements and market demand.
Manage business capital, including budgeting, taxation, debt and loan management.
Select, train and supervise staff and contractors where required.
Develop climate risk management strategies.
Manage work health and safety processes.

Skill & Experience

The following requirements are reproduced from the position Job Description:
relevant AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV qualifications or equivalent; or
3 years employment experience as a Horticulture Grower with relevant formal training; or
5 years employment experience as a Horticulture Grower with no formal training.
