Senior accounting role within a renowned Melbourne retail business

About Our Client

A Melbourne-based retail business seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its finance team. Working across a diverse group structure, the successful candidate will gain broad exposure to reporting, multiple entities, financial operations and process improvement.

Job Description
Prepare and analyse financial reports and statements.
Manage month-end and year-end financial reporting across multiple entities.
Prepare complex group consolidations, including inter-company eliminations.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage the general ledger and reconcile accounts.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and guidance.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and fixed asset reporting.
Support the preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements.
Assist with cash flow reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities.
Identify prospects to streamline reporting and improve finance processes.
Maintain accurate financial data across the group's systems and entities.

The Successful Applicant
A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and a CPA or CA.




Demonstrated experience in a Senior Financial Accountant role; preferably within a retail or FMCG environment.
Strong experience working within a complex, multi-entity environment, and proven capability in preparing complex group consolidations.
Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and principles.
Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
Strong experience with Excel, accounting software and ERP systems, knowledge of MYOB a bonus.
Robust attention to detail, organisation and deadline-management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Retail or FMCG experience is strongly preferred.
