AKAS Group is looking for an experienced HSEQ & HR Manager to lead safety, setting, quality and people functions across our two operating businesses. This is a newly consolidated, group-level role for someone who wants genuine scope: building and owning the systems that keep two growing power generation and electrical contracting businesses secure, compliant and well-supported, while working closely with senior leadership across the Group.

About the role n

Reporting to the COO, you'll own the HSEQ management system and HR practices across the group - from hazard management, incident investigation and ISO alignment, through to recruitment, Award interpretation and employee relations. You won't be managing day-to-day site supervision; instead, you'll be building the frameworks, systems and capability that let both businesses operate safely, compliantly and effectively as they scale.

Key responsibilities n

Own and continuously improve the Group's HSEQ management system, including hazard and risk management, audits, incident investigation and management of change.

Drive alignment to ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.

n

Lead end-to-end recruitment, including trades, technical and field-based roles.





n

Provide Award interpretation and application advice (including the Manufacturing Award and the Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Award 2020).

Monitor Fair Work Act and broader HR legislative change, and keep policy and practice current.

n

Report on HSEQ and HR performance to the COO, General Managers and the AKAS Leadership Team.

About you n

Tertiary qualification in WHS, environmental science, human resources, or equivalent

n

Sound knowledge of HSEQ management systems, risk management, auditing, incident investigation and emergency management

n

Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001

n

Working knowledge of HR and employment legislation, including Award interpretation and application

n

Experience recruiting for trades, technical or field-based roles — power generation, industrial services, electrical or mechanical industries preferred

n

Comfortable operating across multiple sites and business units, with the credibility to work with tradespeople and executives alike
