About the Role

Gold Coast University Hospital is seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist – Forensics to join its specialist forensic mental health service. This position focuses on delivering high-quality psychiatric care to individuals involved with the criminal justice system, including those requiring assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in secure and community settings.

Key responsibilities include:
Conducting comprehensive forensic psychiatric assessments and risk evaluations
Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients in secure inpatient units and community programs
Providing expert advice to courts, correctional facilities, and legal stakeholders
Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to ensure protected, evidence-based care
Supervising junior medical staff and contributing to education and training initiatives
Supporting service development, clinical governance, and culturally safe practices
