Staff Specialist Microbiologist – Public Hospital Pathology

Location: Launceston, Tasmania, Australia

Type: Fixed-Term | Part time (up to 22.8 hrs/fortnight) | On-call required

Salary: $222,789 - $319,701 p.a. pro rata + 12% super + extensive perks

About the Role

Join a leading public pathology service supporting a major regional hospital and Northern Tasmania. Work alongside pathologists, scientists, technicians, and infectious diseases clinicians, providing specialist microbiology advice, diagnostic support, leave coverage, and collaboration with infection prevention and control teams.

Key Requirements:
Clinical microbiology service experience
Bench-level microbiology expertise
Communication of critical microbiology results
Collaboration with Infectious Diseases and Infection Control teams
Teaching and research capability
Strong laboratory safety knowledge

Eligibility




Specialist registration; or
IMG on specialist pathway; or
IMG with recognised overseas specialist qualification and relevant experience
