Private Sector Housing Enforcement Officer

Triumph Consultants are looking for a Private SectorHousing Enforcement Officer to carry out HHSRS inspections, identifying hazards, and taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary to protect tenants and maintain safe housing conditions. Contract is for 3 months in NorthamptonNN1 1ED .

Private Sector Housing Enforcement Officer
n
Pay Rate: £***** per hour PAYE
n
Hours per week: 37.5 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
n
Location: Northampton NN1 1ED
n
Must hold a full Driving License and have access to a car for business purposes
n
Key requirements
n
Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme certified competency
n
Recent and substantial experience carrying out housing inspections and enforcement activity
n
Robust working knowledge of housing legislation with proven experience applying enforcement powers
n
Proven experience issuing Civil Financial Penalties under the Housing Act **** (candidates must be able to demonstrate hands-on experience taking action and issuing penalties, not just an understanding of the legislation)
n
Ability to hit the ground running with minimal training or supervision
n




Experience of working with or preparing cases for the First Tier Housing Tribunal would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities
n
Undertake a range of activities including property inspections, HHSRS assessments, the drafting of schedules of work and the preparation and serving of notices
n
Work collaboratively with the owners and managers of licensable HMOs to ensure that their properties are licensed, well managed and maintained
n
Respond to complaints about serious disrepair and housing-related nuisance in the private sector and, through investigation
n
Work proactively with internal and external authorities to investigate and accomplish role
n
Maintain professional competence and keep abreast of developments in relation to private sector housing enforcement
n

Anticipated Length of Assignment: Unless otherwise stated (we do carry the occasional permanent vacancy) all of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent.
