ROLE – Mechanical Designer SALARY - $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Central Victoria

My client designs and manufactures bespoke heavy vehicle equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team in central Victoria on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Designer will ideally have the following attributes:
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design or Drafting position
Previous experience designing heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipment
Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
Experience designing fabricated components, sheet metal and structural steel
Positive understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
Solid practical and hands-on approach to design
Experience working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
Able to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines




Able to maintain technical documentation and BOMs
Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

The Mechanical Designer role will involve:
Using 3D CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
Designing components and assemblies for heavy vehicles and equipment
Producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
Updating 3D models and engineering drawings
Working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
Liaising with suppliers and external manufacturing providers
Creating and maintaining BOMs and technical documentation
Supporting the full design process from concept through to production
Assisting with prototype builds, testing and final assembly
Checking drawings and designs prior to manufacture
Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on diverse projects
