Van Leeuwen Green is looking for Full‐Time Apprentice Gardeners to join our Garden Maintenance and Garden Renovation teams.
n
Whether you're just starting your apprenticeship, already partway through, or looking for a career change as a mature‐age apprentice, we'd love to hear from you.
n
About the Role
n
Depending on the position, you'll primarily work within either our Garden Maintenance Team or Garden Renovation Team, with opportunities to gain experience across different areas of the business as required.
n
You'll receive hands‐on training and work alongside experienced Team Leaders who will help you develop your practical skills and horticultural knowledge throughout your apprenticeship.
n
There may also be opportunities to work across both teams, giving you exposure to different areas of horticulture and helping you build a broad range of practical skills.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
As part of our Garden Maintenance Team, your day‐to‐day work may include:
n
n
General garden maintenance and plant care
n
Pruning, hedging and shaping
n
Planting and garden bed preparation
n
Soil improvement and mulching
n
Lawn care and general horticultural work
n
Learning plant identification, correct horticultural techniques and equipment use
n
n
As part of our Garden Renovation Team, your day‐to‐day work may include:
n
n
Garden rejuvenations and improvements
n
Removal and replacement of plants
n
Planting and garden bed preparation
n
Soil preparation and improvement
n
Mulching and garden establishment
n
Turf renovations and lawn improvements
n
Installing irrigation and garden lighting
n
Installing steel edging and other garden edging
n




Assisting with small landscaping and garden improvement projects
n
Learning plant identification, correct horticultural techniques and equipment use
n

About You
n
We're looking for someone who:
n
n
Has a genuine interest in gardening, plants and horticulture
n
Enjoys working outdoors and being physically active
n
Is reliable, punctual and has a strong work ethic
n
Is keen to learn and develop current skills
n
Works well as part of a team
n
Takes pride in their work and presentation
n
Has good communication skills
n
Holds a current Australian driver's licence or is working towards obtaining one
n
Has previous gardening, landscaping or outdoor work experience – this is a bonus, but definitely not essential
n
n
First‐year, existing and mature‐age apprentices are all encouraged to apply.

Where You'll Work
n
Most of our work is based across Melbourne's inner south‐east, including Toorak, South Yarra, Malvern, Hawthorn, Camberwell, Bayside, St Kilda, Elwood and surrounding suburbs.
