Common Vice is seeking a motivated and reliable Kitchen Hand to join our team in New Farm.

This is a 24–30 hour per week position, with the potential for more hours over time, suited to someone who wants more than just a job. We are building a structured kitchen environment focused on standards, discipline, and development — and we actively promote from within. For the right candidate, there is a genuine pathway to move up the ranks.

The Role

You will be an essential part of the kitchen operation, supporting chefs and maintaining high standards across back-of-house areas.

Key Responsibilities
Dishwashing and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen equipment
Ensuring all back-of-house areas meet hygiene and food safety standards
Assisting chefs with basic preparation and mise en place
Receiving and correctly storing deliveries
Supporting the team during busy service periods
Following WHS and food safety procedures

Growth & Development Pathway

This is a structured entry-level position with progression prospects. High-performing candidates will receive:




Basic prep training
Knife skills development
Section exposure during service
Mentoring from senior chefs
A clear pathway toward Commis Chef or apprenticeship

Full Australian working rights
Availability for 24–30 hours per week (including evenings and weekends), with capacity to pick up more hours
Reliable and punctual

Previous kitchen experience preferred but not essential for the right candidate
