Fulltime Trade Assistant - Switchboard Manufacturing Industry

Working alongside a team of qualified Electrical Fitters and Tradespeople, you will assist in the mechanical assembly and wiring of custom electrical switchboards. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role perfect for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, and a desire to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities
n
Assist in assembling, wiring, and fitting-off electrical switchboards and distribution boards
n
Prepare materials, components, and tools required for switchboard building projects
n
Install components including breakers, relays, busbars, cabling systems, and protection devices
n
Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings
n
Complete panel layout and internal wiring in line with design documentation
n
Perform functional and operational checks
n
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
n
Assist in process improvements and standardisation
n
About you
n




Prior experience as an Electrical TA, production assembler, or in a similar sheet metal/electrical manufacturing environment
n
Confident using hand and power tools (drills, riveters, pneumatic tools, hydraulic crimpers)
n
Ability to read and interpret basic layout drawings
n
Solid attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and the physical capability to handle workshop duties
n
Punctual, reliable, and bring a positive attitude to the workshop
n
Ability to follow instructions clearly
