About the role

Steel Mains is Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of complete steel pipeline systems for the transportation of water and wastewater. We are looking for Fitter & Turners to join our Maintenance team(s) based at Somerton, Victoria or Naval Base, WA, reporting to the Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance).

Key responsibilities
Maintain Plant and Machinery as directed by the Leading Hand/Mechanical and Electrical Engineers in regard to Preventative maintenance policies
Repair Plant and Machinery as directed
Install and decommission Plant and equipment as directed
Ensure MEX is updated accordingly with WO's, PM's, spare parts used, etc
Complete and sign off required documentation for HSE and legal requirements
Responsible for housekeeping in the works area
Identify and report any hazardous condition or unsafe practice and any prospects for improvement

About you
Trade Qualified Fitter/Machinist
Trade Certificate III – Engineering Mechanical Trade or equivalent qualifications




Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/plans
Proven experience flux core welding
Ability to weld common metals (Mild Steel)
Machining using: Lathes, Mills, Drills
Troubleshooting on plant and machinery
Valuable English – verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and remain motivated
Willing to undertake a weld qualification testing and layout/mark-up testing as applicable
