Due to continued growth across Western Australia, we are looking to hire experienced Principal Ecologists to help shape our ecology offering and lead the delivery of complex projects.
We are looking to recruit highly experienced Principal Ecologists specialising in botany or zoology who want to influence major projects across Western Australia.
As a Principal Ecologist, you will provide technical leadership, mentor and develop ecologists, manage key client relationships and lead the delivery of complex biodiversity projects across the renewable energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.
You will be supported by a highly respected national team and have the opportunity to contribute to strategic growth, business development and the continued success of Umwelt's ecology services in WA.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and expert ecological advice
Lead complex flora and/or fauna projects across WA
Review and approve technical reports and assessments
Build and maintain key client relationships
Mentor and develop ecologists across the team




Manage project delivery, budgets and resources
Support business development and proposal preparation
Contribute to strategic planning and team growth
Represent Umwelt with clients, regulators and stakeholders
Drive high-quality environmental outcomes on major projects
About You:
We're interested in speaking with experienced ecologists who bring a combination of technical expertise, project delivery skills and a passion for achieving positive environmental outcomes.
You will have:
Extensive experience in ecological consulting and project delivery
Expertise in either botany or zoology
Proven experience managing complex projects and client relationships
A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology or a related discipline
Exceptional technical report writing and review skills
Experience mentoring and developing junior and senior ecologist
Commercial awareness and business development experience
Solid knowledge of Western Australian environmental legislation and approval processes
A proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving
Willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork when required
