Want to Become a Tattoo Artist?

Black Book Tattoo is looking for the next generation of tattoo artists to join our apprenticeship program.

This is a 9-month, hands-on apprenticeship for people who genuinely want to turn their passion for art and tattooing into a career. You'll learn within a qualified tattoo studio, working alongside experienced artists and developing your skills progressively from the fundamentals through to the technical side of tattooing.

Our artistic direction is primarily black & grey realism, so we're looking for people who are excited to develop in this area.

This isn't a program where you'll be tattooing on day one. You'll first learn what it takes to work professionally in a busy studio — including studio standards, hygiene, customer experience, discipline and artistic development — before progressing into the technical side of tattooing.

The Basics
9-month structured apprenticeship
3 days per week — Monday to Wednesday OR Thursday to Saturday
Unpaid — apprentices do not receive compensation during the program




No joining fees or costs to participate
Mentorship and hands-on studio experience

Opportunity to develop your artwork, portfolio and online presence
Potential pathway into one of our studios after successfully completing the program

We're looking for people who are committed, reliable, willing to learn and ready to put in the work. You don't need to know everything when you start — having the right attitude and willingness to develop is what matters. You'll first complete a 2-week trial, giving you the chance to experience the studio setting and see what the apprenticeship is really like, while allowing our team to get to know you.
