We are seeking a Local Community Connector to join our Federal government client in a community-focused role supporting individuals to access services, community supports and appropriate pathways.
n
This is an Identified position with a strong focus on working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
n
The Role
n
n
Work with individuals, communities and service providers to gather information and support access to appropriate services.
n
Build strong, culturally respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
n
Provide information about government, mainstream and community services and supports.
n
Develop outcome-focused community connection plans based on individual needs and choices.
n
Conduct participant check-ins and monitor the implementation of supports.
n
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve enquiries and provide advice.
n
Apply relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines when making decisions.
n

About You
n
n
Robust understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
n
Demonstrated cultural awareness and commitment to culturally appropriate engagement.
n




Experience in community engagement, service delivery or a similar client-focused environment.
n
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
n
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and manage competing priorities.
n
Confidence managing sensitive or moderately complex enquiries.
n
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
n
n
Role Requirements
n
n
Travel to regional and remote locations, including overnight stays.
n
Visiting external locations and individuals' homes.
n
Driving long distances, including on unsealed roads.
n
Working across uneven terrain and in varying weather conditions.
n
High levels of face-to-face and telephone-based engagement.
n
n
A current driver's licence is required.
n
The successful candidate will also be required to obtain and maintain relevant employment and security clearances, including Working with
Children/Vulnerable
Persons and relevant worker screening checks.
n
