About the role

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will provide day-to-day care and support to young people in a residential setting, helping them develop independent living and life skills while promoting positive routines, education, health, and wellbeing outcomes. You will manage behaviours using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches, complete case notes and incident reports, support young people to attend appointments and community engagements, work collaboratively with families and stakeholders, and maintain a secure and supportive home environment.

Key responsibilities
Provide day-to-day care and support to young people in a residential setting
Help young people develop independent living and life skills
Promote positive routines, education, health, and wellbeing outcomes
Manage behaviours using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
Complete case notes, incident reports, and other documentation
Support young people to attend appointments, school, activities, and community engagements
Work collaboratively with families, Child Safety, and other stakeholders
Maintain a safe and supportive home environment

About you
Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people




Remains calm and professional in challenging situations
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Understands the impact of trauma on young people
Can work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and professionalism
Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services or a related field (or willingness to obtain)
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
Valid Blue Card
Current Queensland Driver Licence
Ability to work a rotating roster including sleepovers, weekends, evenings, and public holidays
