About the Opportunity
n
We are seeking three reliable and hands-on Trades Assistants to join our Maintenance team at Lapunyah Piggery, Queensland.
n
This is a Casualposition working 50 hours per week, offering overtime and the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Maintenance team.
n
Roster:
n
n
Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 4:00pm
n
Friday: 6:00am – 2:00pm
n
50 hours per week
n
n
Working alongside our experienced Maintenance team, you'll assist with the upkeep and maintenance of site buildings, equipment, machinery and infrastructure, helping to ensure the piggery operates safely and efficiently.
n
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, is mechanically minded and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
In addition to general maintenance duties, you will be responsible for assisting with:
n
Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of piggery feed systems, controllers and hardware.
n
Maintenance and servicing of small motors, vehicles, pumps and mechanical equipment.
n
Arc and MIG welding, fabrication and general repairs.




n
Plumbing repairs and installations, including poly and EF welding where required.
n
Disassembly, servicing and assembly of trash pumps and reticulation pumps.
n
Installation, operation and troubleshooting of climate control systems.
n
General building and construction maintenance, including basic concreting and repairs.
n
Working safely at heights and in confined spaces where required.
n
Maintaining accurate stock control and assisting with purchasing of maintenance parts and equipment.
n
Keeping the workshop, tools and work areas clean, organised and professional.
n
Supporting the wider Maintenance team to ensure the piggery's equipment, infrastructure and production systems remain safe, functional and operational.

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
n
n
Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, Maintenance Assistant, Farm Hand, Labourer or similar hands-on role.
n
Experience using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
n
A strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
n
Experience working with machinery or mechanical equipment.
n
Basic welding or fabrication experience will be highly regarded.
n
A strong work ethic and reliable approach to work.
n
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
n




A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
n
A current Australian Driver's Licence – essential.
n
Reliable transport to and from the site.
n
The ability to undertake physically demanding work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
n

Mandatory Requirements
n
Applicants must:
n
n
Hold a current Australian Driver's Licence and have reliable transport.
n
Successfully complete a pre-employment Medical Assessment, including Drug & Alcohol screening.
n
Be willing to work within a piggery environment and comply with all biosecurity and animal welfare requirements.
n
Be physically capable of performing the requirements of the role.
n
Be available to work the required Monday to Friday roster.
