Clinical assistants will provide accurate and productive clinical support to a multi practitioner practice in Bunbury and Busselton as required. You will take the patient on the first part of their journey at our practice ensuring that all clinical information taken from the patient is accurate and correct. You will need to liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner, deal with patient queries as required, and provide general housekeeping to the clinical area and practitioners rooms.
Key responsibilities
Take patient's medical history
Perform external examination of the eye
Administer drops
Take patients visual acuity
Undertake diagnostic scans and medical imaging using specialised ophthalmic technology
Record all interactions in Genie accurately and clearly
Patient education and support about eye conditions (training provided by the consultants)
Set up and assist specialists during minor procedures and injection clinics
About you
Minimum of Enrolled Nursing Qualification or equivalent experience and medical knowledge
General understanding of patient care in Ophthalmology or related health field
Ability to work independently and unsupervised once training undertaken to schedule and plan clinics and prepare or present patient data for the clinic
Desirable: Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Clinical Assistant, Enrolled or Registered Nurse
Desirable: High level of personal presentation standards, as well as a compassionate and caring nature
Desirable: Practical experience and understanding of Ophthalmology practices, disorders and treatments
Desirable: High level of time management, multi-tasking and prioritisation skills with attention to detail
Desirable: Robust communication skills including valuable telephone and interpersonal skills
