Our Branch

The Group Strategy and Performance Branch supports Infrastructure services by providing strategic and operational services that enable safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery. The Workplace Health and Safety team works closely with leaders and operational employees to strengthen safety performance, ensure legislative compliance and continuously improve safety outcomes across a diverse range of field-based activities.

The Role
n
We are seeking an experienced a Senior Work Health and Safety Advisor to partner with managers and operational teams to maintain compliance, implement contemporary safety practices and drive continuous improvement in workplace health and safety performance.
n
Reporting to the HSEQ Delivery Lead, you will provide expert advice and guidance on workplace health and safety matters, support investigations into incidents and high potential events, undertake audits and inspections, analyse safety performance data and develop strategies that strengthen safety culture and performance.
n
This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence positive safety outcomes across operational environments.



You will coach and support leaders to take ownership of Health Safety Environment and Quality performance while contributing to the delivery of organisational WHS initiatives and local improvement programs.
n
The role includes a combination of office-based and field-based activities, with regular site visits to operational workplaces and participation in an on-call roster and after-hours activities as required.
n
What are we looking for?
n
n
proven experience providing professional WHS advice within a field-based operational setting and well at a leadership level
n
strong knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and the ability to interpret and apply legislative requirements effectively
n
experience undertaking workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations
n
the ability to analyse safety data, identify trends and develop practical improvement strategies
n
highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and coach leaders and employees at all levels
n
experience implementing safety management systems, risk management processes and continuous improvement initiatives
n
strong report writing, analytical and problem-solving skills
n
Ability to coach and mentor collegues
n
demonstrated experience leading incident investigations, identifying contributing factors and providing clear root cause analysis with practical corrective actions
n
Mandatory Requirements
n
A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related discipline.
n
A current C Class Driver's Licence.
n
