Griffin Marine is growing in Perth and we're looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter – Leading Hand to join our team.
n
This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled Mechanical Fitter who can lead and support a team, coordinate day-to-day work and still get stuck in on the tools.
n
Griffin Marine is a leading marine service provider specialising in multi-disciplinary industrial services and project management. We work across Defence and commercial marine projects, delivering high-quality mechanical, fabrication and maintenance services to a diverse range of clients.

What You Will Be Doing
n
As a Mechanical Fitter – Leading Hand, you will help coordinate the team and ensure mechanical work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Leading and supporting Mechanical Fitters and other trades on site
n
Fitting, assembling and installing mechanical components, piping and equipment on marine vessels
n
Fault-finding, repairing and maintaining engines, pumps, valves and propulsion systems
n
Working from technical drawings, manuals and engineering specifications
n
Carrying out preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs
n
Coordinating daily tasks and allocating work across the team
n
Monitoring job progress and helping ensure work is completed to schedule
n
Working closely with supervisors, engineers, welders and other trades
n
Providing hands-on guidance and support to less experienced team members
n
Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and workmanship
n
Identifying issues early and helping resolve problems on the job
n
Leading by example and contributing to a positive team environment
n

What You Will Bring
n
We're looking for someone who is confident leading a team,



takes pride in their trade and isn't afraid to get hands-on.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
Trade Certificate in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining) or equivalent
n
Several years' experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a marine, defence, shipbuilding, fabrication or similar industrial environment
n
Previous experience in a Leading Hand, Senior Fitter or supervisory capacity
n
Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
n
Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
n
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings
n
Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate daily work activities
n
A proactive approach to safety, quality and productivity
n
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
n
The ability to work independently while supporting and leading a team
n
A solid work ethic and pride in your workmanship
n

Qualifications & Requirements
n
n
Trade Certificate in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining) or equivalent
n
Current Construction White Card
n
Valid C-Class Driver's Licence
n
Ability to obtain or hold a valid National Police Clearance
n
Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets highly desirable
n
Marine or Defence industry experience highly regarded
n
