Dual Trade Electrician / Refrigeration Technician

Holding both trades is valuable.
Having the commercial refrigeration experience to back them up is what we're really looking for.
Mergent Group is recruiting Dual Trade Electrician / Refrigeration Technician's for an established commercial refrigeration contractor servicing Brisbane, South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
Our client is prepared to pay well above its standard advertised rate for the right dual-trade technician with genuine commercial refrigeration capability.
The prospect
This isn't a position aimed at an electrician who happens to hold a refrigeration qualification.
We're looking for someone who is comfortable working across both disciplines and can confidently diagnose faults involving the refrigeration circuit, electrical system and controls.
Depending on your experience, you'll work across:
Supermarket multi-compressor rack systems
Commercial and industrial refrigeration plant
CO2 and low-GWP refrigerant systems
Cold-storage and freezer facilities
Cool rooms and freezer rooms
Individual condensing units
Electronic refrigeration controllers and monitoring systems
Specialist refrigeration applications
Older equipment requiring genuine diagnostic ability
Your day-to-day work
The role can involve:
Electrical and refrigeration fault-finding
Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and control issues
Commercial refrigeration servicing
Supermarket and rack-system breakdowns
Compressor replacements and major component repairs
Electrical repairs associated with refrigeration equipment




Refrigeration and air-conditioning installations
Preventative maintenance
Equipment inspections
Warranty and breakdown service calls
Controller programming and diagnostics
Maintaining accurate job notes and asset information through Simpro
Test-and-tag work where required
Customer communication
Normal service work is Monday to Friday, with participation in a shared after-hours roster.
Regional supermarket project work and living-away-from-home opportunities are also available for technicians wanting additional variety.
The on-call roster is issued up to six months ahead, allowing you to plan around your rostered periods.
What we're looking for
Australian electrical trade qualification and relevant licence
Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
Current Refrigerant Handling Licence
Current Australian driver's licence
Strong commercial refrigeration experience
Strong electrical fault-finding capability
Experience diagnosing refrigeration controls
Good workmanship and attention to detail
Confidence working independently
Good customer communication skills
