Description
n
The Centre for Women & Co. is seeking an experienced Child and Young Person's DFV Counsellor to join our Therapeutic Services Team.
n
This position provides counselling to children and young people aged 5–17 years who have been exposed to domestic and family violence. Using evidence-based, trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate therapeutic approaches, the Counsellor will support children and young people to understand and express their feelings, manage the impacts of trauma and move towards recovery.
n
The role provides individual counselling, psychoeducation and therapeutic group work. It also works collaboratively with parents and guardians to strengthen relationships that may have been affected by domestic and family violence.

The successful applicant will develop safe therapeutic relationships,



respond appropriately to risk and work collaboratively with the counselling team, broader organisation and external agencies to support positive outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Fixed-term contract until 30 June ****

Salary Packaging up to $15,900 (superannuation can be paid in addition to this, subject to any ATO limit if any).

Selection Criteria:
n
n
A tertiary qualification in counselling, social work, psychology or human services, together with a relevant counselling qualification.
n
At least two years' experience providing counselling to children and young people, including those affected by domestic and family violence and complex trauma.
n
Demonstrated knowledge and application of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, creative or expressive therapies and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
n
Eligibility for membership or registration with ACA, PACFA, AASW or AHPRA, as applicable.
n
Excellent communication, collaboration, organisation and time-management skills, with experience delivering group work and psychoeducation highly regarded.
n

Note: it is a requirement of the role that the successful applicant holds a current Working with Children Blue Card and Queensland Driver's Licence for the duration of employment.
