Quality Assurance Manager – Certified Organic Farm

Zestiny Farm is a certified organic producer of fruit, vegetables and eggs. It supplies customers through three channels: consumer produce box delivery, farmers markets and wholesale. We're looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to help our Certified Organic Farm meet our certification and regulatory compliance obligations for our wholesale and consumer produce box and farmers markets business lines.

You will also be responsible for the management of our packing and procurement processes to ensure we meet the quality expectations of our customers and our suppliers meet the quality expectations of our farm. The role is responsible for developing, putting in place, maintaining and continuously improving the quality management system. It covers the farm, the packing and cool room facilities, and the market sites.

The Quality Assurance Manager makes sure the business meets its food safety, organic certification, regulatory and customer requirements, and makes sure the quality system supports efficient and profitable operations.

Key responsibilities

Develop, maintain and improve our quality management system and our Food Safety Program based on HACCP, including traceability and recall.
n
Manage our organic certification, egg producer licence, and food safety and council compliance. Coordinate internal and external audits and follow through on corrective actions.
n
Set produce quality and packing specifications. Oversee inspections of incoming and outgoing product, cool room and cold chain monitoring, and egg grading.

Manage testing programs, including microbiological testing and Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) compliance.

Maintain supplier approval systems for partner farms and agents, and manage the performance of logistics providers.

Supervise and train packing and quality staff in food safety, Valuable Agricultural Practice (GAP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and packing standards.

Track quality performance, waste and spoilage. Carry out root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement.

Be the contact for customers, certifiers and regulators on quality and food safety.

About you
n
n
You have a degree or equivalent qualification in agriculture, food science, business or a related field.
n
You have at least two years of experience in quality, compliance or operations in fresh produce, horticulture, agriculture or food.
n
You understand HACCP, Australian food safety and labelling requirements, and residue compliance.
n
You know quality and certification standards such as the Australian organic standards, Freshcare, HARPS or equivalent.
n
You have experience managing audits, corrective actions and compliance programs.
n
You have strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, and you're confident using spreadsheets and reporting systems.

A Food Safety Supervisor certificate and HACCP training are highly regarded. We can support you to get them.

A background in finance or commerce is highly regarded.
n
You need a current driver's licence, because the role involves travel to market sites.
