Fibre Optic Technician

$90,000–$120,000 + Super + Bonus Macquarie Park, Sydney

About the role An exciting chance has opened up for a Fibre Optic Technician to join a fast-moving and growing team working on the rollout and operation of a high-performance Dark Fibre Network across Sydney. This is a hands-on, predominantly field-based role covering fibre installation, splicing, testing, commissioning and fault finding.

Key responsibilities
Single-strand and mass ribbon fusion splicing
Fibre cable preparation into ODFs and joint enclosures
Installation of fibre termination panels and ODFs
Dark fibre testing including OTDR, IL and CD/PMD
Network commissioning and planned cuteovers
Fault finding across dark and live fibre networks
Cable hauling, patching and labelling
Quality assurance and maintaining accurate as-built documentation
Project handovers
Supervising internal crews and subcontractors when required





About you
Hands-on fibre optic experience
Experience in telecommunications or carrier networks highly regarded
Experience with fibre, CAT or coax cabling
Robust fault-finding and testing capability
Good understanding of WHS requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to quality and documentation
Supervisory or QA experience would be highly regarded
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
Current Australian driver's licence preferred
