We are looking for an experiencedApplication Specialistto join our national Technology team and become a key expert within our Application & Business Process function.
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of one of the firm's most critical business systems,Aderant, supporting and enhancing the practice management environment that underpins our legal and financial operations.
Working in partnership with Finance, Technology teams, legal practice groups and external vendors, you will drive continuous improvement, provide expert support, and help shape the future direction of our practice management ecosystem.
You will combine strong functional knowledge with technical capability to ensure the ongoing stability, optimisation and evolution of Aderant and its connected applications, delivering high-quality solutions that support both business performance and user experience.
About the role
As the Application Specialist, you will act as a subject matter expert acrossAderant Expert and Aderant Classic, supporting the firm's end-to-end practice management processes and associated technologies.
Your responsibilities will include:
Acting as a key functional and technical specialist for Aderant and the legal and financial processes it supports
Supporting and enhancing practice management functions including client and matter management, time recording, rates, billing, reporting, revenue and financial processing
Configuring and maintaining Aderant workflows, screens, business rules, templates, billing outputs, security settings and reference data
Supporting connected applications includingDocudraft, BillBlast, Designerand other approved practice management extensions
Translating business requirements into scalable, supportable and well-governed system solutions
Providing second and third level support across Aderant applications, databases, integrations, services and environments
Investigating and resolving complex technical issues using SQL, application logs, APIs, data analysis and diagnostic tools
Developing reports, queries and data extracts while maintaining data quality, performance and governance controls
Supporting Aderant upgrades, vendor releases, patching, environment management and technical testing activities
Managing incidents, service requests, problems and change activities through to resolution
Monitoring application health, service performance and integration outcomes while identifying preventative improvements
Contributing subject matter expertise across projects, enhancements, automation initiatives and AI-enabled improvements
Maintaining high-quality system, process and support documentation
Collaborating with stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Risk, legal practice groups and external vendors to deliver outstanding service outcomes.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Demonstrated experience supporting and administeringAderant Expert and/or Aderant Classicwithin a legal or qualified services environment
Strong knowledge of practice management processes including time entry, client and matter management, billing, financial processing, reporting and month-end activities
Proven experience configuring Aderant workflows, screens, rules, templates, billing outputs, security settings and related components
Solid troubleshooting capability across applications, databases, logs, integrations and scheduled processes
PracticalSQLskills and a sound understanding of relational databases, reporting and data validation
Experience supporting integrations and investigating interface or data-related issues
The ability to evaluate business, technical and operational impacts of system changes across configuration, reporting, security, testing and support functions
Experience managing incidents, change requests, root cause analysis and vendor escalations
Excellent analytical, documentation and testing skills
Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities
A collaborative approach and passion for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Docudraft, BillBlast, Designeror similar Aderant-connected products
REST APIs, JSON and integration technologies
Boomiintegration platform
Aderant upgrades, environment management and production cutover activities
Vendor-hosted or cloud-based practice management environments
Workflow automation, DevOps practices or AI-enabled solutions
Information Technology, Business Systems, Legal Technology or related qualifications.
