Northern Orthopaedic Group
is seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Secretary to join our growing specialist practice in Epping. This is a
permanent position from 24 up to 40 hours per week
, with the successful applicant required to work on-site during consulting sessions. There may also be the opportunity to complete some administrative hours remotely.
About Northern Orthopaedic Group:
Northern Orthopaedic Group operates from a brand-current facility in Epping. The practice will support three orthopaedic surgeons, with a further five surgeons consulting from the facility on a sessional basis.
About the role:
Working alongside an established member of the team, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the practice. This position is ideal for an experienced medical secretary who is organised, proactive and confident working in a busy specialist surgical environment.
Key responsibilities:
Managing patient enquiries, appointments and specialist consultation schedules
Processing incoming referrals, results and follow-up requirements
Processing private health insurance, DVA and Medicare claims, including ECLIPSE billing
Coordinating surgical bookings, hospital admissions and pre-operative requirements
Using specialist practice-management software, including Clinic to Cloud
Monitoring outstanding tasks and ensuring administrative matters are followed through to completion
Preparing clinical correspondence, referrals, reports and other patient documentation
Liaising professionally with surgeons, patients, hospitals and other healthcare professionals
Providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the practice
Skills and experience:
Previous experience working in a specialist surgical practice
Experience coordinating theatre bookings and surgical admissions
Strong knowledge of Medicare, DVA, private health insurance and medical billing
Excellent organisational skills and close attention to detail
The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional team
Excellent computer and IT skills, including experience using Mac systems
A flexible, proactive and solutions-focused approach
