With flexible meeting and event spaces catering to everything from intimate corporate meetings through to large-scale conferences and celebrations, the hotel offers an impressive product to take to market. The property features a substantial ballroom that can be divided into four separate spaces, along with a selection of smaller boardrooms and meeting facilities.

THE ROLE
As Director of Sales, you will take ownership of the hotel's MICE, corporate and group sales strategy, driving new business and maximising revenue opportunities across conferencing and accommodation.
Importantly, this is a
pure sales role focused on proactive business development rather than event planning or execution
. Your priority will be getting into the market, developing relationships, identifying opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements and converting business.
You will also lead and support a small sales team comprising two full-time and one part-time Business Development Executives, providing direction and ensuring sales activity and revenue targets are achieved.
Your responsibilities will include:
Proactively identifying, targeting and securing new MICE, corporate and group business
Developing a solid portfolio of high-yielding corporate and group accounts
Driving conference, meeting, event and accommodation revenue
Building and maintaining long-term relationships with new and existing clients
Developing new business opportunities through extensive networking and industry contacts
Representing the hotel within the Melbourne corporate, conference and events market
Managing, motivating and developing the Business Development Executive team
Setting sales priorities and ensuring individual and team KPIs are achieved
Negotiating corporate and group rates to maximise revenue and profitability
Preparing professional proposals and responding to corporate and group enquiries within required timeframes
Conducting hotel presentations, familiarisation tours and site inspections for prospective clients
Showcasing the hotel's meeting, conference, ballroom, accommodation and ancillary facilities
Maintaining a strong understanding of competitor activity and changing market conditions
Working closely with revenue management and other hotel departments to identify opportunities and maximise yield
Analysing sales performance and preparing relevant reports and forecasts
Ensuring a consistently professional and high level of service is delivered throughout the sales process
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
This position will suit an established hotel sales professional who enjoys being out in the market, developing new relationships and converting opportunities into revenue.
You will be a confident negotiator and networker with a proven ability to build a strong sales pipeline and consistently achieve commercial targets.
To be considered, you will bring:
A proven track record within MICE sales or business development in the hospitality industry
Strong experience selling conferencing, meetings,
events, corporate and/or group accommodation
Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales KPIs and revenue targets
A proactive approach to new business development and account acquisition
The ability to identify and develop new business opportunities through networking and industry relationships
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Excellent relationship management and influencing abilities
Experience with CRM and hotel systems such as Salesforce and Opera
Well-developed analytical and reporting capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong presentation and client-facing abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Outstanding organisational, prioritisation and time-management skills
A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
The ability to develop strong professional relationships both internally and externally
A results-driven approach combined with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a sales team
