AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN (FIBRE LASER SYSTEMS)

Program, configure, and operate CNC fibre laser cutting systems.
n
Import and interpret technical drawings and convert job requirements into accurate cutting programs.
n
Configure machine parameters including cutting power, speed, gas assist, focus and other system settings.
n
Sequence and nest cutting jobs to optimise material utilisation and production efficiency.
n
Monitor machine operation and cutting quality throughout production.
n
Adjust machine settings where required to maintain specified tolerances, edge quality and product requirements.
n
Inspect fibre laser equipment and machine components for wear, misalignment or operating faults.
n
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, optical and machine-control issues affecting equipment performance.
n
Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on fibre laser cutting systems.
n
Perform technical adjustments, calibration and alignment of critical machine components.
n
Carry out corrective repairs and component replacement where appropriate.
n
Test equipment following maintenance, repairs or adjustment to confirm correct operation.
n




Monitor machine condition and identify developing issues before they result in downtime or equipment damage.
n
Maintain accurate records of servicing, maintenance, faults, repairs and calibration activities.
n
Escalate complex equipment issues to management or specialist service providers where required.
n
Follow manufacturer requirements, quality procedures and workplace health and safety standards.

Skill & Experience
n
n
Relevant technical, mechanical, machining, engineering, automation or vocational training, or equivalent practical experience.
n
Experience with CNC laser cutting or comparable automated industrial machinery.
n
Experience programming and configuring CNC-controlled equipment.
n
Ability to interpret technical drawings and production specifications.
n
Solid mechanical aptitude, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
n
Experience with machinery maintenance, calibration and technical adjustment.
n
Understanding of manufacturing tolerances and production quality requirements.
n
Ability to work independently and within a production team.
n
Bystronic or similar fibre laser experience is highly regarded.
