Funky Duck Vinyl is an independent record store in Preston, serving music lovers in-store and online across Australia. We're looking for an experienced, reliable and enthusiastic person with a keen interest in music and a good knowledge of vinyl to help with packing online orders, customer service and the day-to-day running of the shop. You will be the face of our store, helping customers discover their next favourite records whilst building lasting relationships with our community of music enthusiasts.

About the role
n
This is a hands-on role combining picking and packing online orders with serving customers and processing record deliveries. Picking and packing orders will make up a substantial part of your day, and you'll need to move comfortably between preparing orders and helping customers while the shop is open.
n
The position will initially be casual, offering approximately ***** hours per week, with shifts currently expected to be Monday to Friday, around 10am–3pm. Availability during these weekday hours is essential. There is potential for additional hours and a move to permanent part-time employment as the role develops.

You'll receive training and work alongside other team members initially. Once trained, you'll also be expected to work independently and look after the shop on your own.

What you'll be doing

Picking online orders accurately and packing records carefully for shipping.
n
Welcoming customers and helping them find records
n
Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system and handle cash and card payments
n
Receiving, unpacking and sorting record deliveries.
n




Labelling records and keeping stock organised.
n
Answering phone and email enquiries in a friendly, professional manner.
n
Keeping the shop and packing areas clean, tidy and organised.
n
Restocking and sorting records
n
Helping with other day-to-day tasks as required.
n

What we're looking for
n
n
Previous retail or warehouse experience is preferred. Hospitality experience will also be considered if you can demonstrate the relevant skills.
n
Experience picking and packing online orders will be highly regarded.
n
A genuine passion for music, good knowledge of vinyl records and enthusiasm for sharing that knowledge with customers.
n
Strong attention to detail and a careful, accurate approach to your work.
n
The ability to multitask, prioritise and work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment.
n
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, including clear written communication for customer emails.
n
A warm, friendly manner with strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse rang of customers, both in person and over the phone.
n
Reliability, punctuality and the confidence to take responsibility when working independently.
n
The ability to work well with others and contribute to a small team, as well as being comfortable to work independently.

The ability to safely lift and move heavy boxes.
