Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and suitably qualified English language professional to join our team as a casual contractor providing ISLPR testing and English tutoring services. The role involves supporting candidates to develop their English language skills in preparation for the International Second Language Proficiency Ratings (ISLPR) assessment, with the opportunity for suitable applicants to undertake training to become an Accredited ISLPR Tester. This opportunity would suit an experienced ESL teacher, TESOL professional, linguist or language educator who enjoys working with learners individually and has a strong understanding of English language proficiency and assessment.

Key responsibilities

Providing individual or small-group English language tutoring to ISLPR candidates
n
Supporting candidates to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
n
Identifying areas requiring further English language development
n
Providing clear, practical and constructive feedback to candidates
n
Helping candidates understand the structure and expectations of the ISLPR assessment
n
Developing appropriate learning activities based on individual candidate needs
n
Monitoring candidate progress and maintaining appropriate records
n




Conducting ISLPR assessments once accredited and authorised (Tester Training provided)
n
Applying ISLPR assessment procedures, standards and rating criteria consistently
n
Participating in professional development, moderation and other requirements associated with ISLPR tester accreditation
n
About you
n
A degree in Linguistics, TESOL or an equivalent relevant discipline
n
A Master's qualification is preferred
n
Considerable and proven experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/EAL)
n
A strong understanding of English language structure, communication and language acquisition
n
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
n
The ability to assess language performance objectively and provide constructive feedback
n
A skilled and supportive approach when working with candidates from diverse backgrounds
n
Hold a current Australian Business Number (ABN)
n
Be available for work on a casual/as-required basis
n
Maintain appropriate professional standards and confidentiality
n
