ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
n
The University of Melbourne is seeking an accomplished School Manager to provide strategic, operational and organisational leadership across the Melbourne School of Population & Global Health.
n
As a member of the School Executive Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Head of School to translate strategic priorities into practical plans, effective governance arrangements and sustainable operating models. Reporting to the Director, School Business Operations, you will lead the School's business, operational and professional services functions, ensuring its people, resources and services are aligned to support excellence in education, research and engagement.

This is a broad and influential leadership role encompassing financial and resource management, workforce planning, governance, infrastructure, organisational effectiveness and service delivery. You will lead professional staff through a period of organisational change, creating greater clarity,



accountability and collaboration while strengthening a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.

As a key member of the Faculty's School Manager network, you will also contribute to Faculty-wide initiatives, capability development and the ongoing improvement of qualified services across Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.

This continuing, full time appointment offers an attractive remuneration package and 17% employer superannuation.

ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced operational, business or professional services leader who has successfully navigated a large, complex and highly interconnected organisation. Combining strategic insight with a practical approach to delivery, you will bring sound judgement, resilience and the ability to lead effectively through influence and collaboration.

You will demonstrate:
n
Extensive experience leading operational, business or professional services functions within a large and complex organisation
n
The ability to partner with senior leaders and translate strategy into clear, achievable operational plans
n
Robust people leadership experience, including developing capable, engaged and service-oriented teams
n
Demonstrated success leading organisational change and embedding new ways of working
n
Experience managing complex budgets, workforce requirements and organisational resources
n
Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation capabilities
n
The ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders
n
A track record of improving organisational effectiveness, service delivery and operational performance
n
Strong knowledge of governance, compliance, policy and risk management frameworks
n
The capacity to balance local priorities with broader organisational objectives in a matrix environment
n
Experience within higher education, research, government or another complex knowledge-intensive environment would be highly regarded.
