WHO WE ARE

First Nations Media Australia (FNMA) is the national peak body for First Nations broadcasting, media and communications. We represent and support a diverse network of community-controlled media organisations, broadcasters and media professionals working across Australia.

FNMA advocates for a strong, sustainable and culturally connected First Nations media sector that empowers communities to share their stories, languages and perspectives through media.
n
Through national advocacy, partnerships and sector development initiatives, FNMA works to strengthen the capacity and sustainability of First Nations media organisations and ensure First Nations voices are heard across Australia.

ABOUT THE ROLE
n
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Officer to lead the coordination and delivery of FNMA's Calls for Action - a key strategic framework driving sector development, advocacy and impact.
n
The Project Officer will:
n
Lead, develop and deliver multiple concurrent projects aligned to FNMA's Calls for Action
n
Coordinate implementation across FNMA, members and partners
n
Strengthen relationships with stakeholders, including government and sector organisations
n
Contribute to advocacy, policy and sector-wide initiatives
n
Prepare high-quality reports, including Board reporting and funding acquittals
n
Support delivery of key FNMA initiatives, including CONVERGE
n
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
n




We are looking for someone who can operate with autonomy while staying connected to a small, collaborative team.
n
You will bring:
n
Strong project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
n
Experience working with stakeholders, ideally in community, government or not-for-profit sectors
n
Excellent written communication skills, including reporting and briefing
n
Ability to translate strategy into practical action and outcomes
n
A proactive, solutions-focused approach
n
An understanding of the First Nations media sector, or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations or communities, will be highly regarded.
