Responsibilities
Role Overview:
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) for Australia reports directly to the
Head of HR, APAC
and acts as a strategic advisor to business leaders,



ensuring alignment between local business priorities and the broader regional people strategy.
This role is responsible for driving impactful HR outcomes across talent, performance, employee relations, and organisational effectiveness, while ensuring compliance with Australian employment legislation and consistent application of APAC-wide frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Partnering
Serve as the primary HR advisor to the Australia leadership team, aligning local priorities with Global and APAC HR strategy
Partner closely with the Head of HR, APAC on workforce planning, organisational design, and business-critical initiatives
Provide insights on workforce trends, risks, and capability gaps to inform decision-making
Coach leaders on performance, capability building, and team effectiveness
Talent & Performance Management
Drive performance management and talent review processes in alignment with APAC frameworks
Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives
Partner with Talent Acquisition on hiring strategies and critical roles
Ensure consistency and calibration across Australia and the broader APAC region
Employee Relations & Risk Management
Lead complex ER matters including disciplinaries, grievances, and terminations
Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act and mitigate legal and reputational risk
Provide clear, pragmatic guidance to managers on case handling and documentation
Escalate sensitive or high-risk issues to the Head of HR, APAC as required
Change & Transformation
Support regional and local transformation initiatives, including restructures and change programmes
Partner with the Head of HR,



APAC on design and execution of change strategies
Drive effective communication and adoption of new structures and ways of working
Compensation & Benefits
Work with APAC HR and CoEs on compensation reviews, benchmarking, and reward decisions
Provide guidance on offers, promotions, and salary positioning consistent with regional frameworks
Ensure internal equity and market competitiveness
HR Governance & Compliance
Ensure adherence to Australian employment laws and alignment with global HR policies
Support audits, governance processes, and policy implementation
Act as the local custodian of HR compliance while aligning with APAC standards
Engagement & Culture
Drive engagement initiatives in line with regional priorities
Partner with leaders on engagement survey action plans
Champion diversity, equity & inclusion across the Australia business
End-to-End Employee Lifecycle Management
Overseeing and managing the following HR Ops functions.
Onboarding and induction
Probation management
Employment changes (promotions, transfers, salary changes)
Leave administration
Offboarding and exit interviews
Employee records and documentation
Key Stakeholders:
Australia Leadership Team
Head of HR, APAC (direct reporting line)
APAC HRBPs and Centres of Excellence (TA, C&B;, L&D;)

Qualifications
Skills & Experience:
Essential
6–10+ years HR experience in a HRBP or generalist role
Strong experience advising senior stakeholders
Deep knowledge of Australian employment law and ER practices
Experience operating within a regional or global matrix structure
Strong commercial acumen and risk-based decision making
Desirable
Financial services or global organisation experience
Exposure to APAC regional HR operating models
