Year 7 & 8 English Tutor – Education Students Welcome

Pre-Uni New College Oakleigh is seeking a dedicated Year 7 & 8 English Tutor to join our tutoring team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for education students, graduates, or experienced educators to gain valuable tutoring experience whilst supporting students in their English studies. Based in Oakleigh VIC ****, this role offers flexibility and the chance to make a real difference in young learners' academic development. Key responsibilities
n
n
Deliver engaging and tailored English tuition to Year 7 and Year 8 students, focusing on literacy, comprehension, writing and communication skills
n
Assess student progress and identify areas requiring additional support or challenge
n
Provide constructive feedback to students on their written work.
n
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic achievements
n
Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment
n
Adapt teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities
n
n
What we're looking for
n
n
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a teaching degree, education qualification, or equivalent tertiary qualification
n
Strong knowledge of English language, literature and grammar at secondary level
n




Excellent written and verbal communication skills
n
Demonstrated ability to explain concepts clearly and engage young learners
n
Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting student learning
n
Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
n
Experience working with secondary students is preferred but not essential
n
Familiarity with the Victorian curriculum is advantageous
n
