Employee Health and Safety Manager (Construction) /n

Are you an experienced Employee Health and Safety professional looking for an opportunity to take ownership of safety across major projects? This is an excellent opportunity to join a project team in Canberra in a key EH&S; leadership role driving the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of EH&S; across all project sites, while aligning with client's requirements and applicable WHS legislation.

This role requires an existing NV1 security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.

/n

You’ll be responsible for providing proactive, hands-on safety leadership across multiple project sites, working closely with project management, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, clients and regulators to maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance.

/n

This is a permanent, full-time role based fully on-site in Canberra. Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance are essential.

Key Responsibilities: /n

/n

- Provide EH&S; leadership and advice across multiple project sites

/n

- Conduct regular site safety walks, Toolbox Talks and safety audits

/n

- Develop, review and approve SWMS, risk assessments, Take 5s and safety plans

/n

- Identify, assess and control EH&S; hazards

/n

- Lead incident, near-miss and accident investigations

/n

- Track corrective actions through to completion

/n

- Deliver and coordinate site inductions,



onboarding and EH&S; training

/n

- Coach managers and supervisors to strengthen safety leadership

/n

- Facilitate EHS committee meetings, represent the project at client EHS meetings, and deliver monthly performance and trend reporting

/n

- Drive continuous improvement across EHS systems, processes and documentation

/n

What You’ll Bring: /n

/n

- Current NV1 security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance

/n

- Minimum 5 years' experience in an EH&S; management or advisory role

/n

- Demonstrated experience within project-based, field services or construction environments

/n

- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice and applicable standards

/n

- Experience developing, implementing and auditing EH&S; management systems

/n

- Proven ability to develop and approve SWMS, risk assessments and safety plans

/n

- Strong incident investigation and root-cause analysis experience

/n

- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety as a minimum, with a Diploma or Degree highly regarded

/n

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

/n

- Ability to coach and influence people at all levels

/n

- Current Australian Driver's Licence

/n
