Our client, NORWEST, is a growing Civil Construction & Logistics Company based in the Karratha and Wickham area of Western Australia. They are currently seeking an experienced Earthmoving Plant Operator (General) to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, motivated and safety-focused operator with experience in civil construction, earthworks and the operation of various types of earthmoving plant. The successful applicant will work across a range of civil construction and earthmoving activities using equipment including excavators, loaders, graders and skid steers.

About the Role
As an Earthmoving Plant Operator (General), you will be responsible for safely and efficiently preparing, operating and maintaining earthmoving plant and equipment across civil construction and earthworks projects.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare, position and safely set up earthmoving plant and equipment for operation
Operate a range of earthmoving plant, including excavators, loaders, graders and skid steers
Select, fit and remove appropriate attachments such as buckets, loading scoops, shovel blades, rock-breaking hammers and other attachments as required
Operate plant controls to excavate, break, level, compact, gouge out, move, load and spread earth, rock, rubble, soil and other materials
Carry out general excavation, earthmoving, loading, spreading, grading and levelling activities
Perform final trim and detailed earthworks where required
Raise, lower and manipulate plant attachments using manual and hydraulic controls
Work from drawings, site markers, plans and verbal instructions to achieve required earthworks and finished levels
Monitor plant operation and adjust controls to regulate pressure, speed and flow while maintaining protected and efficient operation
Monitor surrounding work areas and ensure the safety of other workers, vehicles and equipment
Conduct pre-start inspections and identify and report equipment faults, defects or maintenance requirements
Service, lubricate, clean and refuel plant and equipment as required




Perform minor adjustments and basic repairs within the scope of the role
Maintain plant, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition
Complete operational paperwork, pre-start records and other required documentation accurately
Follow workplace health and safety procedures, environmental requirements and site-specific rules
Liaise professionally with supervisors, team members and customers when required
Assist with general civil construction and earthworks activities as required
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Perform overtime and work additional hours when required to meet operational requirements

Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will have:
Relevant earthmoving plant operator tickets, licences and/or nationally recognised competencies
Demonstrated experience operating earthmoving and mobile plant in civil construction or earthworks
Proven experience operating excavators, loaders, graders and skid steers
Experience with different plant attachments and hydraulic controls
Experience undertaking excavation, loading, levelling, grading, spreading and earthmoving activities
Final trim experience is highly desirable
Ability to read and work from drawings, markers, plans and verbal instructions
Strong understanding of safe plant operation and workplace health and safety requirements
Ability to conduct pre-start inspections and identify equipment faults
Basic knowledge of plant servicing, lubrication, cleaning, refuelling and minor adjustments
Current HR Driver's Licence is preferred
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Ability to complete operational paperwork and documentation accurately
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, positive and professional attitude
Willingness to operate different types of earthmoving equipment as required
Flexibility and availability to perform overtime when required
