Finance Manager (Hands-On) – Part-Time, Growing to Full-Time

About us
Renewables is a SAA-accredited Gold Coast solar, battery and electrical contractor. We have 15+ staff, our own licensed electricians, and a growing pipeline of commercial, council and government projects across Australia.

We've grown fast. Now we need one person to own our finances end to end, from the day-to-day processing through to the weekly numbers the directors use to run the business.

The role
This role starts at 3 days per week and is built to become full-time as the business grows. You'll be the one person who owns our numbers, working directly with the directors.

It's a genuinely hands-on role. You'll run the processing yourself and build the reporting that sits on top of it. If you enjoy having both the detail and the big picture, you'll like this role.

Day to day

- Weekly payroll, super and STP reporting

- Invoicing jobs on install, taking deposits and progress claims, and chasing overdue debtors

- Bank and account reconciliations in Xero

- Accounts payable: supplier bills, purchase orders and payment runs for director approval

- BAS, PAYG and super lodgements, working with our external accountants

Bigger picture

- A rolling 13-week cash forecast, updated weekly

- Separate tax reserve accounts (GST, PAYG/super, income tax), so there are no surprises from the ATO

- Job costing and profitability by project, salesperson and crew, including flags on anything under margin





- A weekly one-page report and meeting with the directors covering cash, debtors, creditors, order book and profitability

- Director drawings, approved against a clear, agreed framework

- Cost review: our biggest costs, what can be renegotiated, and where to cut or invest

What you'll bring

- CPA or CA qualified (or well progressed)

- Experience running full-function finance in trades, construction, electrical or project-based businesses

- Advanced Xero skills, including payroll (CRM integration experience is a plus; we use GoHighLevel)

- A solid understanding of award-based payroll (experience with the Electrical Contracting Award is highly regarded), super and STP

- A proven track record in cash forecasting and job costing

- Strong attention to detail, and the ability to turn numbers into plain-English decisions

- The confidence to tell directors "no" and back it with data
