We are seeking Registered Nurses with recent relevant clinical experience in their specialty area. Please note that for some specialty areas, recent and substantial experience in that specific field is essential. This ensures nurses have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to safely deliver care in accordance with the clinical requirements, procedures, and patient care standards unique to that area.

Experience Requirements

Emergency Department – Minimum 12 months post grad experience in an acute clinical setting is essential. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strong communication, organisational, and patient assessment skills.

Medical Assessment Unit – Minimum 6 months' recent hospital experience in an acute clinical setting is preferred. Strong communication, organisational, and patient assessment skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, are essential.

Discharge Lounge – Minimum 12 months' post-grad experience is essential, with strong communication and organisational skills.

Theatres – Minimum 18 months post grad experience in a perioperative setting is essential. Strong communication, organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are required.

Endoscopy – Recent Endoscopy nursing experience is essential. Candidates should be team-oriented, adaptable, and willing to support the service as required. This specialty area also offers Casual employment opportunities.

Same Day Unit and Preadmission Clinic – Previous hospital experience is desirable, with experience in a surgical setting highly regarded. Registered Nurses with a minimum classification of RN Level 1.2/1.3 are preferred; however, graduate nurses may be considered. Candidates should be reliable, proactive, willing to learn, and able to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Colyer Surgical and 23 hour Ward – Minimum 12 months’ post grad experience in a surgical ward setting is preferred. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and time management skills are essential.

Kalamunda Anderton Palliative Care Ward – Minimum 6 months' recent hospital experience is preferred, with an interest in palliative care. Strong communication skills, compassion, and a commitment to person-centred care are essential.

Rehabilitation Ward - Minimum 6 months' recent hospital experience is preferred with a passion for being involved in patient rehabilitation. Strong communication, patient assessment, and multidisciplinary team collaboration skills are essential.





Paediatric Services – Minimum 12 months' recent Paediatric nursing experience is desirable. Applicants with at least 12 months' acute hospital experience and a demonstrated interest in Paediatric nursing may also be considered. Graduate nurses who have completed a Paediatric rotation are encouraged to apply. Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is highly regarded.

Neonatal Services – Minimum 12 months' recent Neonatal nursing experience is desirable. Registered midwives and applicants with at least 12 months' acute hospital experience may also be considered. Graduate nurses who have completed a Neonatal rotation are encouraged to apply. Neoresus and completion of the STABLE course are desirable but not essential.

Women’s and Children’s Services – Minimum 12 months recent experience in Neonatal or Paediatric nursing is desirable. Applicants with at least 12 months' acute hospital experience may also be considered. Graduate nurses who have completed Paediatric / Neonatal rotation are encouraged to apply. This is a rotational position across Women's and Children's Services, including Outpatients. The successful applicant will be required to work across the directorate and demonstrate flexibility to move between clinical areas during shifts as service needs require. Orientation and support will be provided as required.

EMHS is entering an exciting period of growth, following the completion of the WA Government's purchase of St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital. The acquisition adds up to 100 public beds and eight operating theatres to the public health system, enhancing capacity across the East Metropolitan region while supporting improved patient flow, expanded services and better access to care.
